Rowers drawn away in both FA Cup and FA Vase

F A Cup

Rovers have been handed an extremely difficult tie in the Extra Preliminary Round of the F A Cup being drawn away to last season’s Essex Senior League Champions Hullbridge Sports.

The tie will take place on Saturday 10 August at 3pm.  The winners of the tie will be away to Tilbury in the Preliminary Round on Saturday 24 August.

F A Vase

Rovers are away again in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase at Hoddesdon Town.  Hoddesdon Town finished 9th in the Essex Senior League last year.  The tie will take place on Saturday 31 August.  The winners will be at home to either Wodson Park (based in Ware, Hertfordshire and playing in the Spartan South Midlands League) or Sawbridgeworth Town who finished 18th in Essex Senior League last season on Saturday 14 September

League Cup Draw Announced

The draw has been made for the Eastern Counties League Challenge Cup 2019-20.

Rovers face a short away trip as they travel to Brightlingsea Regent Reserves in Round 1 with the tie due to be played on Tuesday 24 September 2019.

The winners of that tie will be at home in Round 2 to either May & Baker or Burnham Ramblers.  That tie will take place on Tuesday 22 October 2019.

Fixture Release Date Update

Fixture Release Date

The FA have announced that the FA Cup and FA Vase draws will be released on Friday 12th July, a week later than has recently been the case.   Because of the impact of these cup ties on early season league fixtures not much progress can be made on league fixtures until the draws are released.   As a consequence there is a target date of Tuesday 16th July for Premier Division fixture release, followed in due course by those for the two First Divisions and the Reserve League.

Blackwell the latest rover to return

Danny Slatter’s rebuilding of the squad has continued with the capture of pacy winger Jordan Blackwell.  A product of the Stanway Rovers Youth structure, Blackwell played for Stanway Rovers during the 2017-2018 under Kem Izzet winning numerous end of season awards before departing for AFC Sudbury last summer.   The club are delighted he has chosen to return to the club as Slatter looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Eastern Counties Premier League this season.

Welcome back to The Hawthorns Jordan.

Date for Reserves Team Trials Announced

As part of the growth and restructuring of the club, Stanway Rovers will once again be running a Reserve Team in 2019-20.

Trials will take place on Saturday 1 June at the Phillip Morant School.

This is a great chance for players who are interested in playing men’s football within a professional set up.
